In the happiest of our childhood memories, our parents were happy, too.
– Robert Brault
I cried when I read this quote. Likely because I have had a pretty rough few months and was felt the sudden stab of mother’s guilt. My rough times spilled over to the home, and I know there were no pictures taken of me and my girls like the ones we took on happier days. So, after having a good cry, I decided to use this quote as my mantra. There are always still ups and downs. But, with this mantra in the back of my mind, I find myself catching more moments of putting down my work and heading outside to do sidewalk chalk with the girls. Or to do a silly dance to the closing music in a movie. Or to randomly jump through the sprinkler as I walk by, fully dressed. These are the moments the girls will treasure as times when they are happiest. I want to build more of these moments. Every day.
